Biography


Otavio Cabral Marques is a Professor of Molecular Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (FM-USP), in the Department of Internal Medicine, where he also serves as the representative for the Assistant Professor category on the Department's Council. He is a researcher at IDOR. His work involves integrative systems analysis of neuroimmune networks to understand immune responses and novel molecular mechanisms in depression, infections, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. Previously, he held the position of Visiting Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the Health Sciences Center, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, from August 29, 2022, to April 10, 2023.

Currently, he serves as a Full Advisor in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Immunology, and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FCF/USP), as well as a Guest Advisor in the Interunit Graduate Program in Bioinformatics at the University of São Paulo (USP).He holds degrees in Biology and Psychology, earned his Master's (20062008) and Ph.D. (20082012) in Immunology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, USP, and completed a sandwich doctorate at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Seattle Children's Research Institute, Seattle, WA, USA, from December 2010 to May 2011. He also undertook postdoctoral studies in Brazil (University of São Paulo; 20122015) and Germany (Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, University of Lubeck: October 2015 to April 2019; and the Center for Chronic Immunodeficiency (CCI), Medical Center, University of Freiburg: April 2015 to November 2019).Additionally, he serves as the Junior Ambassador of Brazil in the Network of Immunity in Infection, Malignancy, and Autoimmunity (NIIMA), part of the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN).
